SPHERE GRID
Rikku's always ready to barge into battle...as long as it's not near a thunderstorm. Her part of the spheregrid increases the character's speed and HP quite a lot, with a little offensive and defensive thrown in.
Because she doesn't specialize in magical nor physical skills, she can go to Lulu's section and become a powerful black mage, or go to Wakka's grid and become a physical fighter (I like to get her to Lulu's grid, but put a couple of strength spheres in there too, and after that it's Wakka or Tidus).

ABILITIES
Rikku's abilities on her part of the Sphere Grid are somehow...thiefy. Copycat and Full-life are behind level.4 locks, so don't expect to get them in the beginning.

Steal Allows to steal items from foes
Use allows to use special items
Luck raises party's luck
Mug allows stealing while attacking
Spare change attack enemy with Gil (force 1/10th of amount thrown)
Bribe give money to enemies, so that they leave the battlefield
Copycat copy the action of a fellow party member
Full-life revive a party member with full HP
