al bhed's home

Home is just what it sounds like - a home. But the reason it is spelled with a capital H is because the place is special to Al Bhed.

The Al Bhed were hated and feared around Spira because they do not believe in Yevon, nor did they stop using machina. Machina was the downfall of the world of old, and the religion prohibited it. You know how people are, eluding everyone who does not fit their standard. This is exactly what happened to Al Bhed over the years.

Back to Home. Situated in the scorching desert of Bikanel Island (where nobody would go in their right mind), Home is the one place where Al Bhed can be in peace. The one place where they do not need to worry about what the rest of the world thinks about them. It is what keeps the Al Bhed together.

Was. Was what kept them together. During FFX, the guado became so enraged by the death of their leader, that they burned Home to the ground. Only because there had been an Al Bhed among the guardians who killed him. After this incident the Al Bhed scattered around Spira, the only thing keeping them together after this was the language barrier and others' wariness.

By the time FFX-2 came rolling around, even that had changed. Now the Al Bhed are a productive part of a society where machines are used more and more as time passes. But Home has not been forgotten, as Cid - Rikku's father and former leader of the Al Bhed - wishes to rebuild Home. But does it need rebuilding when the Al Bhed have already found a new home in Spira?
