Name

It is probably no secret to anyone that Selphie shrines seem to be out on a competition to see who will come up with the most unoriginal name. When this website became a definitive project, I began thinking of titles: preferentially ones that did not include Selphie's last name or her home country anywhere, that is. To be honest, it wasn't that difficult.

This shrine almost got called Sugar Rush, until, one day, I was playing Final Fantasy VIII and a sudden flash hit me: why not Rapture instead? Sure, it may be the name of one of Selphie's unique spells (which certainly isn't too original), but contrary to that context, where it is used as a synonym for "transport", I would be going for the following meaning of the word:

rap•ture, noun. ecstatic joy or delight; joyful ecstasy.

I suppose I don't need to write a lengthy explanation on why this fits Selphie: I think it is rather obvious that the most prominent trait of her personality, and the one I love her most for, is her ~~hysterical behavior~~ almost constant happiness and love of life. To me, "Rapture" also had an additional huge advantage over other possible titles: it is a one-word name, which I consider ideal. So, all things considered, the decision ended up being quite easy.

Unlike many people, I do enjoy coming up with names, and I particularly love this website's: it is short, meaningful and effective without entering the domains of cheesiness or stupidity.
