 BONDS

Tifa's interaction with the rest of the main cast.

Cloud Strife
Cloud, like Tifa, grew up in Nibelheim, a small mountain town, soon developing feelings for her that she always secretly returned. Though they're often labeled as "childhood friends", Tifa says it herself that they weren't too close. Cloud still remains Tifa's one love interest, and her devotion to him is truly amazing. They get their own sub-section.

Aerith Gainsborough
Aerith is the bubbly, cheerful and outspoken flower girl whose lap Cloud literally falls on. She eventually develops a crush on him, but despite their common love interest, her and Tifa still manage to get along. When Aerith dies, near the end of Disc 1, Tifa is deeply affected, and always keeps the flower girl's memory with her. For more information, check this essay.

Barret Wallace
As the leader of AVALANCHE, the anti-ShinRa faction Tifa is part of as well, Barret deeply cares for our barmaid. Despite his violent ways, he's extremely honest and often lets his special affection towards Tifa show. Barret and Tifa are often mistaken for a (married) couple by first time players, for together they raise Marlene, Barret's four-year-old adopted daughter.

Red XIII
One of the many poor creatures Hojo experimented on, Red (or Nanaki), often said to be (one of) the wisest playable character(s) in the game, probably trusted Tifa from the start. Though they don't have much noticeable interaction, she often cheers him up whenever he gets pessimistic about the future or his own life, and they seem to get along pretty well.

Yuffie Kisaragi
The only reason Yuffie even joined Cloud and the rest of the party was because she wanted, well... materia. As an egocentric ninja thief, she tends to distance herself from others, not interacting or showing her true emotions or feelings a lot (which, I suppose, comes with stealth): however, Tifa does seem to be extremely mad at her when she steals the party's materia. Things cool down after the Wutai side-quest, though, and, ultimately, they're fighting partners, anyway. They're never the best of friends, but they can stand each other's presence.

Vincent Valentine
As an optional character, like Yuffie, Vincent doesn't have much interaction with the rest of the cast either; for different reasons, of course: while Yuffie keeps a distance willingly, Vincent simply comes off as introverted, dark and quiet. There is one time in Disc 2, though, when Tifa rejoins the party, that he comments how glad he is to see her well and safe.

Cid Highwind
You can tell, from the moment he joins Cloud's party, that Cid and Tifa share a weird but strong friendship: not exactly FFVII's social butterfly, you'd think Cid's and Tifa's personalities could never get along; however, not only does he address her as "sis", she's often the only person he will listen to. Furthermore, when Cloud is gone in Disc 2 and Tifa becomes the new temporary leader, Cid is very nice to her... in his own way.

Cait Sith
Cait Sith was initially a spy working for the ShinRa, and, from the moment he steals the Keystone from the party at the Gold Saucer, Tifa loses all trust in him: until, of course, he redeems himself from his betrayal at the Temple of Ancients. Due to his "poor Tifa..." comment when he reads Cloud and Aerith's happy fortune, we can also assume he cares about her feelings.

Marlene
Marlene is Dyne's (Barret's former best friend) four-year-old daughter, whom Barret adopts and raises after the North Corel incident (read more about it here). When Barret creates AVALANCHE and moves to Midgar, Tifa kindly takes father and daughter in, becoming a motherly figure in the little girl's life: she takes care of her whenever Barret goes on a mission and always worries about her safety. Obviously enough, the love is mutual.

Sephiroth
This guy went mad, set Tifa's hometown on fire, killed her father, stabbed her across the chest, attempted to do weird bad things to the love of her life and later on tried to destroy the whole world by summoning Meteor. Not the best grounds for a friendship, uh?
